BLOG 4.5 - Time Zones - due 2/9 (XC)

Answer the following questions after studying time zone map of Europe http://www.worldtimezone.com/time-europe.htm:
· How many time zones are there in Europe?
· For every 15° of longitude there is a difference of how much time?
· What is the line of longitude at 0° called? Through what city and country does it pass?
· What is the significance of the International Date Line?
· If it is 7a.m. in Rome, Italy, what time is it in Reykjavik, Iceland?
· If it is noon in London, what time is it in Moscow?
· If it is noon in Madrid, what time is it in Paris?

1. UT (GMT)

2. Central European Time. (UT + 1hr)

3. East European Time (UT + 2hrs)

4. Moscow Time (UT + 3hrs)

The 180 degrees longitude line passes through Russia, Fiji, Tuvalu and Kiribati

What is the significance of the International Date Line?

the world spins in a circle and every time it spins in a complete circle it becomes a new day. the international dateline is where we start measuring and when the world goes all the way around and back to that line, it is a new day.

· If it is 7a.m. in Rome, Italy, what time is it in Reykjavik, Iceland?

6 am at weekends and 1 am during the week.

If it is noon in London, what time is it in Moscow?

3:00pm Moscow Standard Time.

If it is noon in Madrid, what time is it in Paris?

Madrid and Paris are in the same time zone.

1.In Europe there are 4 time zones.
2.The difference of times is 1hr later.
3.The line of longitude that is on 0 is called the Prime Meridian. ( I think :/ )The PM goes through Greenwich England.
4. Its an imaginary line that sits on the 180 line of longitude that seperates two days.

3.it is called the prime meridian. It goes through united kingdom, france,and England.
4.To me it was used to keep everything organized and in order.

There are Four time zones in Europe UTC,CET, EET and MSK.

The Difference of how much time is 60 mintues

the line of longitude at 0° called the Prime Meridian. It goes through Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in sotheast London, United Kingdom know as the International Meridian or Greenwich Meridian.


International Date Line is north-south imaginary line on the surface of the Earth.

Its would be 6:00am

It would be 3:00pm

It would be 12:00

4. Becuase earth has to have 2 boundaries.
5. It's 6 in the morning in Reykjavik,Iceland.

4.)The significance of the International Dateline is that if you are flying over seas it changes the day. Once you pass this line the day moves forward. If i left my house on Sunday, and i got to this line at 3pm then once i passed it it would be Monday at 3pm
5.)If it was 7 a.m. in Rome then it would be 6a.m. in Reykjavik.
6.)If it was noon in London then it would be 3pm in Moscow.
7.)If it was noon in Madrid then it would be noon in Paris

4)I think the significance of the Internationanl date line was because the world isn't flat, and people are in different areas, mainly so you can keep everything n order.
