WRITING PROMPT -
Dis/Agree - American students should speak at least two languages fluently before graduating in order to participate in the global community. Write a 2-3 paragraph response; be sure to use evidence to support your conclusions.
I disagree highly because every body isn't the same. So for that to stop some body from graduating is almost saying that almost everybody cant graduate because of your color. Its not wright unless you was counting english. And are we talking about high school. As it is we still have people that haven't even master English and that's there first language. So to stop someone from graduating because of some two languages in my eyes is wrong. Also i think spanish schould be the only other class you would really have to have because its almost our second language if its not already ther.And you would have to take it an at least pass with a D and only have to take it for one year.And to be able to talk one other language fluently is a talent. And everybody is not talented. So being able to have speak two languages fluently is amazing, it schouldnt be a expectation.
To me I disagree because i think that if you wont to learn it then you can it sould not be up to know one eles what you sould learn in what you sould. It is really good for you to have it but you sould not be made to learn this if you are fine with only speaking one language. But at the same time if you got to langages you could it a job better.
culture studies to me is anythin because all culture arent the same some are but not all of them they got different beleif then other people like u cant eat beef if ur culture is isam but other culture would eat it to isam that is a sign of disrespect so culture studies crazy because u can studies any culture in still find it hard to understand it if not your culture
I disagree because most of the cultures or beliefs are not the same. For example, chrsitianity only pray one time a day and Islam prays five times per day.
I disagree because everyone is not the same.some people many not want to know more then one languages.I also think that people should pick if they want to learn how to speak more then one languages.
I agree , I think everyone should at least know 2 languages. Not only will it help you the in global studies, but it will also help you in life. You'll have more opportunities in life & in college. Just over all in life I think its well to know 2 languages (:
I think it is good for a student to speak 2 or more different langueges. For one thats how you get to go more places over the united state to get a job and make more money. Another reason is because some of the other rascis are racist and when oyu go to store or things owned by them they coul d be talkiing about you in there languege and you can understand what is beind said.
i also think that it would be good 2 speak 2 diffrent kinds of laugage because like if we want 2 go 2 D1 SKOOL speakin 2 languages will look good on our book thing i kn cuzz i dnt have eny ideal wat i m talkin bout rite nw so bye
I disagree because because you shouldn't have to know two languages to participate in your own community. If you want to be apart of the community, you should just know the language you already know. If that was so, nobody would be in the community or participate in it. It would barely be a community. I barely can learn Spanish so I would be in another state or country. You should just be yourself in your own community and participate in it.
I agree i think you should know at least two languages because its good for global studies. It can also help u life by getting you into better colloges and getting better jobs by just knowing two different languages.

I agree with the fact that each student should know at least two languages before graduating because that looks great on a college application, and not only that it can benefit you and so many ways.
I disagree because some students dont want to speak more than one langusge but then some of the students want to speak more than one. Students should not be held from graduating because of the fact that they dont want to take more than one or no langusge class and maybe the American students just want to speak english and they maybe just dont think its right. The American students should not be given this choice because some students may not pass one of those classes and they pass every other class and they just dont graduate because of that one class. American students should want to speak another langusge but they shouldnt be given the choice to take the class or dont pass high school. i also think that if a student doesnt want to take on an extra class they shouldnt have to.
Should American students speak at least two languages fluently before graduating in order to participate in the global community? In my opinion I believe it should be optional think it would be wonderful for Americans to come out of there comfort zone and learn a new language. But, what I am not agreeing with is why that would have to prevent us from graduating. I believe they should give us the access to learning new languages and if some of us won’t to grab the opportunity then we will because I know there are kids out there like me who would like to learn something new...P.S let me know when that opportunity is available.
i really agree with this question because if people want to have the finest job in the world they are going to have to speak at least two languages to be able to talk to the other people in the world and plus you never know if u have to move across the ocean to a whole other country and have to speak to different people that speak a whole different language.then its all ways good to speak two languages or more cause than it a good thing to do because other people in the world cant speak two languages.
I believe that you should speak 2 languages because you'll never kno where life will take you. You should at least learn spanish or french because they are 2 most languages spoken or learned by Americans. But some people might live in America all there life and they might not be the adventours type so.Some people might not want to learn another language....
Yes that is a most definetly. Say somebody from a different country migrated to your country and came to your job. What would you do if they spoke a different language and you didn't understand it? Nothing. If that happens your job would be considered as a bad job and something bad may happen like job relocation or something. Im pretty sure you don't want that to happen. But if you graduate with a different language then it will help you a lot because the customer will either keep coming back because of the good service or they will spread the word to other migraters or they might even do both if you're good enough.
I think we should be able to speak two languages fluently. If we are able to do that life would be more easier when communicating. In case your career has to do with talking to different language people you will need that second language in school. Because everyone doesnt speak english.
But when its something you need to graduate with that kind of crazy.! For instead you want to work on cars for a America car company you will not need a second language. So its 50/50 with me. My career is in the medical field so im going to need a second lanuage.
Well I agree with people having to learn a language but two I disagree on. The reason why I think that people should learn a lanuage because if they ever get a job they might be faced with someone coming to their job speaking a different lanuage and someone might not be there to help you. The reason I feel that learning two lanuages shouldn't be required because 9/10 you are only going to need the basic lanuages that is really used in the world.

That probably would be hard for most students in school to learn more than one or two languages before they can graduate to participate in global communities. I think that if students have they mind made up that they want to participate in global communities when they are older, then they need to start early such as in middle school or high school.
No i dont think american student should have to learn two luanguages.High school is already hard enough by itself. To add something as hard as another launguage is almost sicide. I think most people would definitly drop out of school. Also i dont think it would be fair for the U.S to be the only country learning two COMPLETE luanguges.

to McCluster: umm i agree with you that it's good that you can understand what somebody is talking about if they a diffrent race or have a diffrent languge, and you can get more jobs and that means more money. thats way i agree.

I think this because you might run into a situation when there is a foreigner who doesn't know america well and can't speak english at all so you have learn to speak their language so they won't fell left out.

They just say hi,no,yes thats all teens do. You cant stop someone from graduating school because they cant speak a language. That's blackmailing. I also agre beacsue teens ands also adults need to expand their vocabulary and learn. Im tired of teens trying to use big words that they dont even know. And also it will help you also in the future. You could get better jobs and help out your community. Not even all the people in the U.S even immigrants know how to speak english today.

I highly agree that we should learn two language and be able to speak fluently before graduating high school because if we dont we might not have any jobs when we graduate. i say this because the kids from other countrys have schlorships to come to america and they probaly already know how to speak two languages and they speak them good. that looks good on a job application. Globalzation has already been taking jobs and we are being laid off so we should that looks really good on college and job application.

Also Language and communication skills will be an important part of your international effectiveness. Speaking more than just one language before graduating is cool because you can talk to your friends at school and no one would know what your talking about. Personally, I wish I were fluent in Spanish. I think a case can be made that Spanish is the most important language for an American to learn after English. I think this because in most cases there are more Hispanics than any other ethnic group in the United States. It is best to learn languages while in high school because it would be easy when doing college work with a professor that has a accent. Just because you are a certain color or race doesn't mean you can't learn how yo communicate with others from a different culture.

i do agree on some terms but i dont agree also.The reason that i say i dont is because many people growing up will not encounter these challenges. i also think that that may be selfish to say. some people do not have the will power to try and learn another language or they just cant.

I agree students should know at least two language before they graduate. In today society we have different cultures who live here in the US, we have so manydifferent things that we can major in in college, and since we have some many different people here from so many cutures, they all know different langusges. Since most of these people know different languages and have jobs here we at least need to knopw a different language.
For example if someone graduated from high school and went into the medical field, and they had a mexican family who needed some sort of medical attention, but none of the family spoke english, how are they suppose to get the help they need if know one in the hospital speaks english. Also in kauffman we have mexican families who don't speak english, so we have people who speak spanish so the students can still get the educational help that they need.
I agree because it would be unfair if immigrates would have to come and just learn our language. It would be easier for all the races to get to know about each other ethnic background. The last thing would be that since more immigrates are owning their own business we should be able to speak their language because they might not know ours so good
