Blood diamonds also know as (Conflict Diamonds)

This is the link I got my information on this topic:
http://www.institutehrb.org/blogs/guest/rough_business_diamonds_and_conflict.html?gclid=CIqkzM3JkqgCFSRe7AodDVp1EA

Ever since the 2000's there has been big disagreements on the exporting, mining, and selling of diiamonds. Two people named Naomi Campbell and Mia Farrow went and tesified agenst the war craims trial of the former Liberian President Charles Taylor. Some people may have forgote about it but alot of people ar still feeling the impact that the conflict diamonds / Blood diamonds. The Kimbeley Process Certification Scheme or (KPCS) coverd 75 conuties and also covered all the apects of trading and mining rough diamonds. Everyone of the participating countrys passed a binding legislation saying that all of the exported diamonds are to carry a KP (Kimberley Process) certificate so that they could be traced back to the mine/ exporting location. Countryies that were participating, could not take the rough diamonds from the exporting locations without a KP.This decreased some of the production and trade of rough diamonds. Alot of people didnt think any thing would go wrong butit did. There was one little thing that happened for a little while some of the wars over diamonds decreasedin some places. Some goverments / people were unwilling to get harder on miscreants. Very large fluctuations happend to the production went unexplained. There was a 600% increase in Guinea. in 2008 some Zimbabwean armed forces shot and killed, 200 diamond miners. Very manny people died in Africa's diamond wars. The hard part now is to prevent that from happening again.

PS:
Leonardo DiCaprio made a movie about this story.

The Angolan Civil War was a war for independence in 1975. There were three major Angolan faction included for support their were MPLA,FNLA,AND UNITA. Supporting by countries basically to add the chaos. The war ended from 1998-2002 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo the MPLA end the whole mess.Fighting for independence made severe lack of any kind of natural resources of the civil war.

The war was so important because the country has vast mineral and petroleum reserves the outcome to the society is its life expectancy and infant mortality rates are both among the worst-ranked in the world.

Gustave is a massive male Nile crocodile living in Burundi. In 2004 he was estimated to be 60 years old, 20 feet (6.1 m) in length and to weigh around 1 ton, making him the largest confirmed crocodile ever seen in Africa.[1] He is a notorious man-eater, who is rumored to have claimed as many as 300 humans from the banks of the Ruzizi River and the northern shores of Lake Tanganyika. While this number is likely exaggerated, Gustave has attained a near-mythical status and is greatly feared by people in the region. Scientists and Herpetologists who have studied Gustave claim that his uncommon size and weight impedes the crocodile's ability to hunt the species' usual, agile prey such as fish, antelope and zebra, forcing him to attack larger animals such as Hippopotamus, large wildebeest and, to some extent, humans.

The blood diamond was about how they were starting to trade diamonds. They were also refering to a diamond mined in a war zone. This started in Angolia whichis a colony of portugal. This started when they were needing to have something to trade and since cold was a big thing in that time they realy wanted them it was the best thing to do.

Child Rebels (Uganda)

Child rebels are children soldiers that are kidnapped at gunpoint at night, and forced to be soldiers. They're usually around 10 yrs. old and are given guns to fight in the Ugandan army. It's important because these children don't get to have lives, their taken from their family and never get to see them again, and their risking their lives. The impact it has on society and life is their killing off their own people because they don't know any better, innocent people are being killed and thats a major effect on society.

Idi Amin Dada was a military leader and President of Uganda in 1971 to 1979. Amin's rule was characterized by human rights abuse, political repression, ethnic persecution, extrajudicial killings, nepotism, corruption, and gross economic mismanagement. The number of people killed as a result of estimated by international observers and human rights groups to range from 100,000to 500,000.It is so important to know this person because he was so horrible he killed people the most he killed is 100,000-500,000 (most sources say 300,000). Born between 1923 and 1925 into the Kakwa tribe in Koboko, near Arua in the northwest corner of Uganda, close to the borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Sudan. His father is a farmer and a follower of Islam. His mother is a member of the Lugbara tribe and is said to practice sorcery. "He was a product of multiculturalism, African-style, and able to use relatively advanced methods to achieve brutal, primitive ends. Like every African dictator, he was confusion's masterpiece."
Africa has suffered more than any other continent from his actions its colonial past, which has breed Ugandas and Congos and Rawandas and South Africas and Zimbabwes and greed and corruption and death.

The Rwandan Genocide was the 1994 mass murder of an estimated 800,000 people in the small East African nation of Rwanda. It was the culmination of longstanding ethnic competition and tensions between the minority Tutsi, who had controlled power for centuries, and the majority Hutu peoples, who had come to power in the rebellion of 1959–1962 and overthrown the Tutsi monarchy. In 1990, the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a rebel group composed mostly of Tutsi refugees, invaded northern Rwanda from Uganda in an attempt to defeat the Hutu-led government. They began the Rwandan Civil War, fought between the Hutu regime, with support from Francophone nations of Africa and France, and the RPF, with support from Uganda. This exacerbated ethnic tensions in the country.

Uganda's fallen child rebels

The LRA was a group of people that caused all types of trouble for Uganda. Northern Uganda is very fertile and can feed lots of people. The LRA adapted to the environment and then began to raid the community of everything. The land was completely destroyed with marks of abandoned fields and villages, this is because of the LRA. Now, people live in isolated refugee camos where even that place is not entirely safe. Two months ago, 300 people were killed when the LRA one raided camp, Barlonyo, near Lira. The LRA lives by raidng villages and camps, stealing food and provisions, and kidnapping people. The older people are used as porters until they have no further use of them. They keep the younger children aroun 10-12. They may take three kids away from the same family and force the youngest one to kill the oldest one. They are them considered rebels. And there is a lot of guilt and fear felt. Last year the LRA abducted 9,000 young people. This is a very significant issue and someone needs to step up and get involved. This is very harsh and cruel.

Laurent Kabila
Laurent Kabila was a saviour in a place called Zaire in 1996 and 1997The people of Zaire sauted him because they believed that he would set them free from poverty and corruption from the former President Mobutu Sese Seko.
After a few months a new war began and the allies (Uganda and Rwanda)of Laurent Kabila. Laurent Kabila
only survived because of the neighbours Angola, Namibia and Zimbabwe saved him. Even though a peach agreement has been reached the countries are still fighting and Rwanda and Uganda controll half of the country. Laurent Kabila surrounded himself with family and friends. After he came into power he banned all political parties except his own. He promised things that would never happen and he refused to restart payments on the country's bill, which was $14 billion in debt.

First Boer War:

The southern part of the African continent was dominated in the 19th century by a set of epic struggles to create within it a single unified state. The British did not try to stop Trekboers from moving away from the Cape. The Trekboers served as pioneers, opening up the interior for those who followed, and the British gradually extended their control away from the Cape along the coast to the east eventually annexing Natal in 1845.

Blood Diamonds were the diamonds that were sold out of different countries in Africa. Blood diamons are illegal and it is said that those villages you were gathering them were threatened, beating, and sometimes even killed by the Revoluntionar United Front. This too place in countries like Sierra, Leone, angola, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This was important because this shows where and how we obtain some of the things we still use today, and what people had to go through just so we could have diamonds. Even though not all diamonds are gathered that way.

This had a great impact on society because the people were the ones getting hurt during this proccess. If this never happened then so many people would probably still be alive today.
